September is one of the best months in Delaware – great weather, the fall colors begin, and it is an excellent month to be outside.
Here’s some great free events to enjoy with your family in September!

Visit the 111th Arden Fair and find over handmade crafts and jewelry from over 120 vendors, art exhibits, music, and all of this for free admission.

Gather around the bonfire with us, and be transported back in time through stories of local folklore and history by our gifted storytellers. The 13th Annual Townsend Fair will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018. The fair begins with a parade from the Townsend Fire Station on Main Street at 10 am. The parade proceeds down Main Street to the Municipal Park where the fair will be held from 11 to 3 with inflatables, carnival games, contests, face painting, lots of good food and about 100 vendors set up in the park, providing a fun-filled day from start to finish.

The Brandywine Festival of the Arts is an annual arts festival in Wilmington, Delaware. Featuring hundreds of juried artists exhibiting one-of-a-kind art, the festival is a Delaware tradition spanning over half a century.

The free, self-guided public art event, Art Loop Wilmington, brings together art lovers and community to the ever-evolving downtown and greater Wilmington areas. Milford’s largest annual outdoor festival, the Riverwalk Freedom Festival, is hosted by the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Milford to celebrate the anniversary of September 11, 2001. What originally started out to be a one-day event has evolved into a fun-filled, event spanning the entire downtown Milford area from Walnut Street to BiCentennial Park.

This event celebrates Dover’s thriving small businesses, our military community, craft beverage industry, and new manufacturing partners. OktDoverFest is Dover’s spin on the traditional German rite of passage and features activities for all ages. The festivities begin at 3 p.m. and will conclude at 9 pm. Loockerman Street will be closed between State Street and Governors Avenue to allow our participants to roam the retail district of Downtown Dover.

The Ladybug Festival to Milford, Delaware, on Saturday, September 22nd. There is a planned rain date of Sunday, September 23rd. The massive block party, which will be completely free to attend thanks to sponsors, will have an outdoor main stage in Downtown Milford and multiple smaller venues in local store fronts, bringing foot traffic inside Downtown Milford businesses.

Teams and individuals can express their artistic flair in the sand. Past creations have included sea creatures, Funland rides, movie characters, pyramids and traditional sandcastles. Fun for both participants and spectators! Public can vote for their favorite sculptures, help build a community sandcastle and create a kid’s sand art craft activity.
