From free museums, to awesome walking tours, to getting into the holiday spirit early, Delaware has plenty of events and activities to enjoy this month with your family for free.

New Castle:

Free Admission Night at the Delaware Art Museum

Every Thursday the Delaware Art museum opens it’s doors to the public. The Delaware Art Museum is best known for its large collection of British Pre-Raphaelite art, illustrations by Wilmington native Howard Pyle, and urban landscapes by John Sloan and his circle.

When: Thursday evenings after 4:00 p.m.

Hike Through History

Come join for a Hike Through History at Auburn Heights Preserve and learn about the industrial and agricultural past of the area.  Wear sturdy walking shoes for this hour-long trip. Meet at the Auburn Valley Trail parking lot.

Veterans Apple Pie Social at the Judge Morris Estate

Honor Veterans at the park’s annual Apple Pie Social. Hear firsthand what being a Veteran means and how we can honor them for their service. We will be serving coffee and apple pie, courtesy of Perkins Restaurant. Call to register 302-368-6900.

Stories of the Green Walking Tour

Free tours through the historic district of Dover.  Tour led by historical interpreters in period dress begin at the John Bell House on The Green.

Around The Green, visit the former residences of Dover’s Revolutionary War heroes.  Hear their stories and remember their sacrifices.  Free tours led by historical interpreters in period dress begin at the John Bell House on The Green.

Welcome Santa Tree Lighting Celebration 

The Dover Mall is hosting a Welcome Santa event. There will be a Christmas Tree lighting, Military & First Responders Appreciation Day, and crafts for children.

Where: 1365 N. Dupont Hwy Dover, Delaware at the Boscov’s Court in the Dover Mall

When: November 10th from 5pm-7pm



Native American Drumming, Flute Playing and Story Telling

Join to learn about the traditions of the local Nanticoke Tribe, everyone is welcome. Free admission, but please call to reserve your space as space is limited.

Holiday Art Show

Gallery 107 and the members of the Nanticoke River Arts Council are pleased to present their Holiday Art Show. Refreshments and entertainment provided.

Lewes Legends Tour

This 90-minute walking tour will introduce you to stories of strange happenings in the town of Lewes and visit one of the most haunted places in Delaware the Cannonball House. Flashlights recommended. Due to the mature content of this tour children under the age of 12 are strongly discouraged from attending.
